The album was produced and engineered by Brett Hestla (Creed, Framing Hanley, Dark New Day), and mixed by Dan Malsch at Soundmine Studios. “Let’s Go Out Tonight”, the lead single off of the eleven song disc, has been featured on the MTV Video Music Awards, the CBS People’s Choice Awards, as well as other programs on MTV and ESPN.

“We wanted to write songs you love to sing at the top of your lungs on your drive home from work or from school” lead vocalist Andy Brooks says. “It works just as well driving home from the massage parlor or from the candy store or fish market or from the elevator repair shop…any place really!”

New album from Curtis Evans!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wednesday, March 24th 2010—Chicago’s Curtis Evans and Our Friends Electric are releasing their first full-length album, Life with the Buffalo, on May 25th. This release is the eagerly anticipated follow-up to his December 2008 EP, More Songs About Loneliness. We like to call Curtis’s style ‘Garage-icana’, which is a mix of Americana and early Garage rock.

The buffalo featured in this album art was the last of a herd that had been living in Lords Park in Elgin, IL for hundreds of years. This buffalo died within a month after that photograph was taken. Curtis’ album explores the parallels of his life with that of this buffalo’s: Curtis and the buffalo in the photo were born the same year, in the same town.

This album is for fans of Neil Young, Townes Van Zandt, and Sparklehorse. It was recorded by Tim Sandusky at Studio Ballistico and produced by Tim Sandusky and Matthew Baugher.

Born in 1979 in Elgin, Illinois, Curtis Evans picked up a guitar and wrote his first song when he was fifteen. The current lineup of Our Friends Electric is: Dan Ingerthron (Skybox, Inchworm) on bass; Jim Licka (also in Umbra and the Volcan Seige) on organ and guitar; Matthew Baugher (also in Inchworm) on guitar; Russ Mallard (also plays with Musikanto) on drums.

A 29-year-old Elgin native, singer-guitarist Curtis Evans is disreputable looking and frighteningly talented, with a melodious country-soul voice that sometimes gets sloppy, thick, and heavy—like if Hank Williams had tried a little of what Nick Caves been drinking. — Monica Kendrick, Chicago Reader

“Planet Anthem is the most unique album the group has released in its decade-plus career.”

“Planet Anthem is an intoxicating ride, one that swirls and slams in the right places”
-Dallas Morning News

The Disco Biscuits have just released video for “On Time,” a breezy and infectious electro-pop anthem from their latest album, Planet Anthem. This new video, which made its debut on MTV2 and MTU, was directedby Noah Rappaport and Ghost Town Media. It follows the sexual escapades of a skinny disco robot on a wild night on the town.

Planet Anthem, which was released on March 16th, debuted at #140 on the Billboard Top 200 and #5 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart. On the new album, The Disco Biscuits break out of the jam band-meets-electronica sound they have been known for. This time around, they’ve opted for danceable pop and rock grooves , plus a touch of hip hop thanks to collaborating with producers Don Cheegro and Dirty Harry (Ludacris, Chris Brown, Beanie Sigel).

The Disco Biscuits also recently announced the lineup for the two annual festivals they put on. Bisco Inferno will take place on May 29th at Red Rocks Ampitheatre in Morrison, CO. In addiction to the Biscuits, headliners include The Glitch Mob and The Crystal Method. Camp Bisco 9, the band’s ninth annual three-day music and arts festival, will be held in Mariaville, New York from July 15-17th. The Disco Biscuits will perform all three nights, and other headliners include LCD Soundsystem, Ween, Girl Talk, and Major Lazer. As true road warriors, The Disco Biscuits have a slew of additional dates throughout the US.

Ghosty’s Team Up Again video – featuring Elliot Gould and a robo-man

Here is a link to Ghosty’s new video for ‘Team Up Again,’ directed by Pat Vamos, who creates short films and music videos by repurposing obscure public domain footage such as this 1973 movie "Who?" starring a young Elliott Gould and a roboman. Paired with singer Andrew Connor’s plaintive vocals and the refrain "When can you and I team up again?", the melancholy roboman’s plight appears even more poignant and intriguing. Is he more sad about his unusual plight or because of his outmoded look? Who is the man that visits him in the hayfield by helicopter? And what does a roboman ponder while gazing out at the surf?

Secret Language featured on Largehearted Boy

"The new single “Secret Language” is a jangly summer jam, its chorus supported by sunny Beach Boys-style harmonies. The lyrics aren’t nearly so chipper as the tune would suggest, however, beginning as a nostalgic reflection on childhood before flashing ahead to contemplations of suicide." Chipped Hip

“Influenced by the Beach Boys’ sunny-side-up vibe and lofty vocals, guitar-pop quintet GHOSTY beg for the summer soundtrack treatment with “Big Surrender,”-Entertainment Weekly

"Andrew Connor’s songs are finely wrought with bright, buoyant melodies over intricate, shifting structures that slip-slide around like the missing link between Emmitt Rhodes and Pavement." MOJO 4/5

“Lead single "Big Surrender" – "you don’t have to be a pessimist, no, no" – resembles a mix of The Shins and Pavement. Haunting, inescapably.” Chris Roberts-UNCUT 4/5

Ghosty, “Answers” “The second full-length album from this Lawrence, Kan., indie band retains the melodic tone of their debut, “Grow Up or Sleep In,” along with the same sort of witty lyrics.” Juliet Eilperin/Washington Post

"An elegant tuneful debut that nests happily in the same corner of indiedom as Fruit Bats, The Shins, Phantom Buffalo and on occasion the mighty (flaming) Lips themselves.” THE SUN

“Answers", sees the band taking on increasingly ambitious pop arrangements, especially in songs like “Dumbo Wins Again.” With a sturdy, crunched drum beat, bright, jangly guitars and the light warble of electric piano, the song teems with highly interwoven melodies and finely crafted vocal harmonies. Michael Katzif-NPR

"With a fully fledged sound that layers instruments galore and pays tribute to the sixties Wilson Beach Boys and other California elements, Ghosty share a retronuevo sense with the Coral and the Earlies, a celebration tinged with irony, of those halcyon days." Americana UK

"Ghosty sound like a mature, well crafted, fully grown into their skin band and their take on the American alt-rock is accessible enough to sell, poppy enough to catch on, odd enough to interest and hard enough for rock n roll. Top tunes, this one goes into the collection"UNPEELED

After two full length albums, a slew of EP’s, and several miles of tape, Ghosty is now putting the finishing touches on their latest short-form release, entitled "Team Up Again". This will be the third installment in a series of digital EPs released on the band’s own More Famouser Records imprint. In the Fall of 2010, a 12" vinyl LP release on More Famouser will collect the highlights of the Ghosty EP series, combined with unreleased tracks, to form the band’s third full-length album.

It’s fair to say that a sense of longing and reflection permeates Ghosty’s music. Members Connor, Nolte, Wetzel, Adams, Blanton, and Johnson aren’t sure why this is, but they continue this trend with their latest release. It would seem that Ghosty is simply attempting to understand its own inner child, ambitiously and optimistically hoping that through introspection they might stumble onto some universal truths and "connect" with other human beings with those same urges. Ghosty occasionally fears that its devotion to /obsession with pop music has "gone too far" or is having an "irreversible corrosive impact" on other aspects of its life, but that’s probably just Ghosty being paranoid.

Between years spent in both Lawrence, KS and Kansas City, MO, Ghosty has always managed to catch new hooks out of the air, and from these hooks, build tunes that are earnest and refreshing. Their songs have been known to posses powers to please your ear, arrest your indifference, jolt you from your routine, or overwhelm you with wistful sentimentality for days gone by. Their newest work is no exception. …At least that’s how Ghosty hopes you might feel.

The Disco Biscuits took the pre-order game to a whole new level, offering fans the opportunity to bundle the record with an actual experience with the band. It worked, too, as The Disco Biscuits sold over 3,000 pre-order packages. There were over 32 combinations available, including going to an Eagles game with the band, taking shots of Jameson with band, going to dinner, taking guitar/bass/keyboard/drum lessons and
playing tennis against the band. Others included your standard CD/poster/ticket bundle, a chance to pick the bands playlist and even sing on the next record. Although the massive pre-order campaign is now over, fans can still grab an autographed copy of the album from Newbury Comics HERE.

The Disco Biscuits have confirmed the first round of performers slated for Camp Bisco 9, the ninth annual three-day music and arts festival in at the picturesque Indian Lookout Country Club in Mariaville, New York this July 15-17, 2010. The 50+ performer lineup at the multi-stage camping festival includes: The Disco Biscuits – All 3 Nights, LCD Soundsystem, Ween, Thievery Corporation, Girl Talk, Major Lazer, and Diplo among others. For the full lineup and ticket information, go to www.campbisco.net. The band will be performing at Ultra Music Festival in Miami on March 26th alongside Tiesto, Deadmau5, Carl Cox, Passion Pit, Major Lazer and more. They’ll also be playing Bonnaroo 2010 this June in Manchester, TN.
