Rasp Thorne and the Briars: latest live dates…

Hi there. How are you? A couple of weeks ago I sent out a press release regarding Rap Thorne And The Briars latest London shows; they will be playing Vaudeville Stomp at Native Tongue on Saturday and Club for Losers at the St. Moritz on the 27th. I was just wondering if you fancied coming along to review either of them? Please let me know if you would like some guest list!

An unruly mixture of carnival dirges, gothic country and punk weaving tales of cryptic crocodiles, shotgun-sucking porn stars and dystopian wax cults, Montana-born performance artist, poet and musician Rasp Thorne and his band the Briars’ decadently deranged live performances have made them favourites throughout London’s flamboyant club scene.

“an intriguing and rhythmic blend of Southern Gothic country punk with added elements of experimental cabaret, there are nods to Tom Waits, Nick Cave and even The Cramps”

Formed at the tail end of 2008 when Thorne and Duncan DeMorgan (bass) met by chance at a G.G Elvis gig, Rasp Thorne & the Briars really started taking shape when Pete Moriarty showed up with his upside down left handed electric guitar and was completed by Hugh Zog (lapsteel and guitar) and Joni Deehan on drums.

With strong connections to the theatre and performance art world, Rasp Thorne & the Briars were commissioned to write the music and perform in the run of Carnesky Productions’ ‘Dystopian Wonders’ a live-art theatre and circus show at The Roundhouse (Camden) which went on to tour to The Lowry (Manchester) and The Crucible (Sheffield).

Rasp Thorne & the Briars are currently working on their debut album scheduled for release in Autumn 2011. Their debut EP ‘Debutante Warnings’ is available for download on 18th April 2011 on Chagrin Records and the band will be performing live as follows:

21st May 2011 Vaudeville Stomp at Native Tongue, London
27th May 2011 Club For Losers at The St Moritz Club, London
