Unconventional Music for Christmas

This is a bit different from the music I usually send out. Then again acknowledged opera singers releasing their music on their own labels are not that common. On of Sweden’s top tenors, Rickard Soderberg is the only one I know, and he does it so well. Always well received, often with a very unconventional twist. With Christmas and New Years around the corner, perhaps you would like to share the voice of a classical tenor with your readers / listeners?

Besides being one of Sweden’s top opera singers Rickard is a very loud and appreciated spokesman for Gay Rights. He has just released a Christmas CD where he has included his version of “Someday my prince will come”. In Sweden this is a part of a campaign he has lounged to collect money for an organization that works against violence towards gays. I would love to tell you more about the campaign, but since that is local to Sweden I won´t unless you ask me to.

But I would like to share his Christmas music with you. On the link below you will find Mp3 s of his version of “Someday my prince will come” and “Christmas song” (Chestnuts roasting…) along with the cover and a pressimage:

And here is the video of Rickard Soderberg singing “Someday my prince will come”

Best regards & happy holidays

PS: Rickard has also released a very well received cd of opera love songs to men (traditionally sung by women) called “The Perfect Man” and an album called “Castrato Arias – uncut edition”. There are videos and music for those as well if you are interested.
